Blind jamón tasting at home: compare two products without the brand

A home blind tasting helps you explore what you prefer without seeing the brand or price. This proposal compares two products and keeps their identity on a separate key. It does not certify quality or identify a category by taste.

At a glance

Choose a question, hide the names, write before discussing and reveal the product details last. Personal preference does not establish general superiority.

1. Decide what you want to compare

Are you exploring your preference between two purchases, or two formats within one category? Those are different questions. Write yours down and select just two products for this first session.

Changing category, cutting method and presentation together lets you choose a favourite, but does not isolate one cause. Keep the packaging to check afterwards.

2. Use codes and a comparable serving

One person assigns A and B and keeps the key away from the table. Use similar plates and similar amounts, checked with scales if you want to match them. Codes should not hint at price.

Follow each pack's opening and storage instructions. Assemble close to tasting and organize small rounds; hiding a brand does not replace product directions.

3. Write before hearing other opinions

Try each product separately and record two specific observations. Water can be available, and you can repeat in reverse order. This is a way to organize a comparison, not a validated professional protocol.

  • Sample code: A or B.
  • Texture you perceive when chewing.
  • Aroma and flavour in your own words.
  • Preference and reason: what you would choose for the occasion.
  • Questions to resolve on the product page.

4. Reveal the details and use your notes to shop

Compare notes with the designation, breed percentage, cutting method, weight and price. If you prefer one, consider whether you want it for a starter, gift or another occasion; do not generalize the result to every ham in that category.

To plan the session, explore 80 g ham and shoulder packs and choose two products with a clear question. For other formats, browse ham to buy. Each product page has its own details and availability.
