Which ham category to choose in Belgium

The Ibérico percentage describes the pig’s breed. Cebo, Cebo de Campo and Bellota describe feeding and farming categories. Our Gran Reserva Duroc is a separate category and is not Ibérico.

  • Gran Reserva Duroc ham: Gran Reserva is our dry-cured Duroc category. Duroc is not Ibérico.
  • Ibérico Cebo ham: Cebo identifies the feed-based Ibérico category. It does not mean an acorn-fed ham.
  • Ibérico Cebo de Campo ham: Cebo de Campo combines feed and resources from the countryside. It is a different category from Bellota.
  • Bellota ham, 50% Ibérico: Bellota describes acorn feeding during the montanera season; 50% refers to the pig’s Ibérico breed share.
  • 100% Ibérico Bellota ham: 100% refers to the Ibérico breed, while Bellota describes acorn feeding during the montanera season.

The colours of the official Ibérico seal

  • White: Ibérico Cebo.
  • Green: Ibérico Cebo de Campo.
  • Red: Bellota with 50% or 75% Ibérico breed.
  • Black: Bellota 100% Ibérico.

Read the full designation and breed percentage for each reference. A black design in a photograph does not replace the official seal.
