Duroc is a pig breed, not a feed regime or a number of months. Knowing the animal helps explain the name but cannot reconstruct a ham listing from a photo.
A US-origin breed with a reddish coat; the name does not establish acorn feeding, Iberian percentage, exact curing or a particular farm.
How the breed is described
The official catalogue places its origin in the United States and describes a reddish coat, medium drooping ears and dark hooves. These are visual pointers, not breed certification: a black hoof does not prove Iberian ham either.
Duroc and Iberian are not synonyms
The Iberian standard permits certain Duroc crosses and requires the corresponding breed designations. That does not make every Duroc product Iberian. For Iberian ham check the stated percentage; for a Duroc listing read its own declared details rather than borrowing a percentage from another product.

The breed is used in pig production and crosses for meat products. Even so, visible fat, texture, salt and intensity depend on other factors too. Do not infer guaranteed flavour or health benefits from Duroc; compare the individual product and ingredients.

Ask specific buying questions
Check whether you receive a bone-in leg, a prepared piece or sliced pack; confirm current weight and price. Read Gran Reserva separately if present: it is not a breed. Our Gran Reserva and Duroc guide develops that distinction. Editorial images here do not identify Paco's farm or a catalogue item.
