Two slices can look alike yet come from different recipes. When choosing between salchichón and salami, replace “which is better?” with “which specific product suits my table?”. The name is a starting point; the label lets you compare.
Neither the size of white flecks nor the fineness of the mince is enough to identify quality, ingredients or origin.
What they share and what not to assume
Both names occur among cured sausages made with minced meat. The Spanish standard covers salchichones and salami; the Italian salame rules, articles 17–21, allow different formulations. Do not infer a universal recipe, animal species or origin from the name.
Compare two product pages field by field
Open the pages side by side and note the full name, declared species, ingredients, allergens, net weight and directions. Then compare prices for the same quantity and format. A sliced pack and a piece offer different serving options. Browse sliced charcuterie for current choices without assuming that all share the same seasoning.

If the labels say the products are ready to serve, put a few slices of each on separate plates. Taste without sauces first and note seasoning intensity, texture and how each fits your appetizer plans. These are personal preferences: a photo or a taste impression cannot replace ingredient and allergen information.

The selection follows the Jamones Paco Heredia catalogue. Editorial photographs illustrate formats; check the collection for current products and their details.
Turn your comparison into a useful purchase
Do you want one variety or a contrasting board? Decide before adding packs. Explore Jamones Paco Heredia Ibérico charcuterie and read each product page. The selection below reflects the current catalogue; it does not mean we sell every salami variety discussed. If you also plan to buy Spanish ham, choose its format separately.
