Sliced ham takes care of the cutting before it reaches your table, but it does not by itself decide which product category you are buying. Its advantage depends on use: an occasional dinner involves a different purchase from a household that regularly slices a whole leg.
Sliced ham helps organise pack openings and avoids cutting a leg at home. In return, compare net weight, price per unit of weight and storage instructions. It is not automatically better or cheaper.
Less slicing preparation, with other checks still needed
If you receive slices ready to eat according to their label, you do not need to organise cutting a bone-in leg for that serving. This is practical when you have no stand or prefer not to take on that work. You still need clean utensils, a plate and the opening and storage instructions. A prepared format does not remove those steps.
A whole leg offers a different experience and requires suitable tools and handling. Before choosing, think about who will slice it and how often, rather than deciding only from a picture of a leg on the table.
Separate packs for separate occasions
Several independent packs let you keep unused ones sealed, always within their stated dates and conditions. That is an organisational advantage, not a guarantee that there will never be leftovers. Choose by declared weight and the planned meal; do not open every pack just to divide them afterwards.
Do not transfer the sealed pack's date to opened ham. If the pack does not explain what to do after opening, ask about that reference. The guide to dividing packs between meals develops that planning with a numerical example, distinct from this comparison of formats.

The weight of a bone-in leg and the net weight of a pack do not describe the same thing. To assess a sliced-ham order, note net grams per pack and the number of units; for another format, confirm what is delivered. Do not apply an invented yield percentage to justify one option as cheaper.
Classification matters too: formats are comparable only when you know the products they contain. Distinguish ham from shoulder ham and check the full description, breed where applicable, declared feeding category and ingredients. A small pack does not turn one category into another.

When to choose each format
For occasional servings or when you prefer to avoid home slicing, packs may fit your routine better. If you enjoy cutting and use the product regularly, consider a whole leg and its handling. No single guest count always decides for you: include frequency, space and preparation work.
Consult the shop's current sliced products and whole legs, checking their present details. This guide helps choose a format; it does not promise that every category is available in every presentation or advertise services absent from the product page.
