Choose Ibérico for your table in Hasselt by comparing two Altanza ham plates of 80 g net: free-range Ibérico ham in the Spanish Cebo de Campo category, 50% Ibérico, and Cebo ham, also 50% Ibérico. Both come from the hind leg and are machine sliced in a knife-cut style. The brand, presentation and breed percentage match; the category differs. Jamones Paco Heredia can help you decide, and the direct links open the exact product pages.
The same plate and net weight, two different categories
Cebo de Campo is a Spanish category involving outdoor access and a diet based mainly on cereals and legumes. It is not another name for Bellota and does not mean the pigs eat only acorns. The second plate in this comparison is labelled Cebo. For both products, 50% Ibérico describes the breed percentage, not the proportion of acorns in the diet. With the same 80 g net weight and slicing description, you can compare the category without mixing in a whole piece or a pack of another weight. Read each reference’s own information for its particular details.
Compare cebo, cebo de campo and bellota on the product pages. The Ibérico percentage describes the breed; the category describes feeding and husbandry. Gran Reserva Duroc is a separate selection and is not Ibérico.
Put together a tasting selection or a food gift
Choose one category or order a plate of each to try at the same meal. Together they provide 160 g net of ham; that does not establish a fixed number of slices or portions. Match the quantity to the rest of the menu and how you want to serve it. The Spanish expression efecto cuchillo describes the result of machine slicing, rather than hand carving. A real photograph of the packaged plate identifies the purchase, while a serving image suggests an arrangement. Check ingredients, allergens, storage instructions and use-by information on the label you receive.
