Before finding a place to store shoulder ham, establish what you have received. A bone-in piece is not a pack of slices, and a started piece is no longer in the same condition as when it arrived. Keep purchase information so you can decide with the relevant details in front of you.
Check the format and instructions, organise clean slicing and follow the stated storage conditions. Do not apply whole-piece advice to sliced packs or invent one common duration.
On arrival: identify presentation and instructions
Check whether it is a whole bone-in shoulder, a boned piece, a centre or packed slices. Keep identification details and read dates and storage instructions before removing wrapping. If an instruction is unclear, ask about that particular presentation.
Do not choose between cupboard and refrigerator from a photograph. Follow the delivered product's conditions and avoid transferring temperatures or durations from another shoulder ham. Nor does ‘Ibérico’ alone decide how every presentation must be stored.
A piece in use: prepare the slicing area
If slicing a whole piece, use a suitable stable stand and clean utensils. Clear unnecessary objects from the cutting area, plan how much you will serve and avoid handling the stored portion while eating. Follow the surface-protection and storage instructions accompanying the piece.
Choose a working place that allows safe handling and keeps the product under its stated conditions. Do not improvise treatments with oil, wrapping or cleaning products on the meat to compensate for unknown storage. If changes cause concern, ask before eating and do not taste a slice to decide whether it is safe.

For packs, read the sealed-pack temperature and date and the instructions after opening. Vacuum packing does not by itself establish a number of months, and an unopened pack's shelf life does not transfer to served slices. Keep unneeded packs sealed.
Serve a manageable quantity and replenish if needed. Store unserved food according to the label and retain identification when changing containers. Boned shoulder likewise needs its own instructions: it is not automatically stored like a hanging whole piece.

The selection follows the Jamones Paco Heredia catalogue. Editorial photographs illustrate formats; check the collection for current products and their details.
Match the next purchase to your routine
Note whether you prefer regular slicing or opening a pack on separate occasions. That routine helps choose a format, but does not turn guest numbers into a guaranteed storage duration. Check declared weight and available presentations before ordering again.
Consult the current shoulder-ham selection and pack options. If ordering a different preparation, confirm how it will arrive and which instructions accompany it. This guide does not advertise a new service or reference; it separates storage situations that should not be confused.
